Reports indicate that Iranian protesters who have been admitted into hospitals due to injuries are being seized by the Basiji, the Iranian government paramilitary arm.
These protesters are admitted into hospitals under restrictive terms. Hospital staff and personnel are prohibited from obtaining personal information and identification of wounded protesters, and the Iranian government takes these people away to an undisclosed location upon completion of treatment, sources say.
“The point is, when they are being taken to the hospital they don’t actually get there,” an anonymous source told CNN last week in a report. “Just like the reporters are being told not to report what they really see. Hospitals, administrative levels, are being told to stay out of the public because they’re saying you’re accusing the regime of being hostile.”
The Iranian government has taken more drastic and violent measures to control the Iranian revolt in protest of the results of the recent Iranian elections, when the government has declared that protesters will be punished “firmly” and shown no mercy. The protests have been raging on for more than two weeks as of present.
“Rioters and those who mastermind the unrest must know the Iranian nation will not give in to pressure and accept the nullification of the election results,” said Ayatollah Ahmed Khatami, a high-ranking Iranian cleric. Khatami also blames the protesters for the death of Neda Agha-Soltan, a young woman who was shot dead in a protest rally, and who became one of the greater driving forces behind the opposition.
The Iranian government has allowed the submission of formal complaints regarding the election results until Sunday.
